The Scoop

Pound the eight colorful wooden pegs into the wooden frame, then flip it over to repeat the activity again and again! Included are a wooden hammer and four pairs of pegs--great for color matching.

Enjoyable Simple Toy

Comments about Melissa & Doug Pound-a-Peg Classic Toy:

Got this for my son when he was 18 mo, and we have thoroughly enjoyed it. We like that the pegs can be removed, as we use them for multiple play options. Hammering them has given good motor practice. We also pretend they're food, logs to load up in his dump truck, etc. This toy encourages creativity, which is what I love about M&D's quality toys. Additionally, it has held up well. My son is very rough with his toys, but we've had no problems with chipping.

Very disappointed

Comments about Melissa & Doug Pound-a-Peg Classic Toy:

Bought this product for my 18mo old grand daughter who is very active with her hands. Had I read the reviews here before my purchase I would have looked elsewhere! The pegs in the set I received are more than loose, they fall right out when you lift the frame. Very very disappointed as I have many other MandD toys that are great quality. This product definitely needs an overhaul and redesign. I will be contacting customer service to see about a replacement or credit towards something different.

Why I would not recommend this product.

Comments about Melissa & Doug Pound-a-Peg Classic Toy:

The idea is just what I wanted, but the product was very disappointing. The pounding pegs are too small and can easily be pushed down by hand. My 2 year old grandson was quickly bored and needed no time to figure out that the hammer is only a prop. The hammer is not even needed to pound the pegs. E pegs are easily moved by hand. Disappointed and not happy with the product or the purchase.

I would not buy this product again

Comments about Melissa & Doug Pound-a-Peg Classic Toy:

I was really excited to get this for my 18 month old. He was just as excited as I was when I gave it to him. It was pretty easy for him to hit. The only problem is that the pegs are really loose. They slide out very easily and are just as easily lost. Very disappointing as it's hard to keep up with an 18 month and all the pieces to toys. I expected much more out of Melissa and Doug as their products are usually made high quality.

Pegs chipped after little use

By

Comments about Melissa & Doug Pound-a-Peg Classic Toy:

This toy was given to us as a gift. One of the pegs began to chip (not the paint but the actual wood) after using the toy only a couple of times.

The kids loved this toy....for the first few days. Now, the pegs fall through, so the point of the toy is lost. Have many Melissa and Doug toys at our house...this one is a disappointment!

bought this for my 1 1/2 yr old for Christmas. My older son had one of the older ones with the split pegs, but we gave it away.

This one is useless - the pegs (well, all but two) just fall out when you pick up the frame. No need for the hammer unfortunately. I know its not expensive, but none the less a waste of $$.

Gave this to our 18 month old grandson for Christmas-- the pegs fall right out. Now we'll have to find something similar, since he likes to hammer.

Gave this to our grandson for Christmas-- what a disappointment! He would have loved it it the pegs had only stayed in the holes.

Very very poor quality. Now I'll have to find something similar, since he likes to hammer.
