Perfect letter toy!

Comments about Melissa & Doug See & Spell Learning Toy:

I love this toy! I have 3 kids..... 3, 6, 7 and all have benefitted from it. Our middle child is cognitively delayed and loves the toy also. It helps with fine motor skills, color identification, and letter recognition. Highly recommended. I've also given it as a gift to my niece heading into kindergarten next year.

We spread the whole set and my grandchildren like to do each word one at a time. It really would be more challenging if you had additional word boards to supplement the original set!

I use this with my 2 & 3 year old. I think this is such a great "toy"! They can search for the letters, spell the word, see the coordinating picture, and I have ghem say all the letters and announce what word it spells. And the way it's displayed, they can play at thr same time - plenty of letters. I just wish I could purchase additional word boards for it. :-\

We have "homework time" because all his older friends have to do homework before they can play. He really gets into it and is beginning to sound out words and recognize letters by name.

        Discover More Ways to Play
        • Give kids one of each letter, "a" through "z." Ask them to place the letters in alphabetical order. Once they have successfully completed the alphabet, have them identiy the color of each letter.

        • Place the letters "at" on a flat surface. Ask kids if there are words they are able to spell by placing a single letter in front of the "at." For example: bat, cat, fat, hat, mat, pat, rat, sat, or vat. Try other word endings like "ad," "an," or "ame."

        • Place eight boards in front of kids. Say an initial letter sound. Have kids remove any board(s) with that initial sound. Repeat the activity until all the panels have been removed.

        • Allow kids to choose either side of any panel. Ask them to identify the letters needed to spell the word and to repeat the image's initial letter sound.
