Thanks to our Blog Ambassador Tiffany of Peanut Blossom, for sharing her family vacation tips!
Family vacations are one of my very favorite ways to connect with our kids. Getting away from the everyday routine and exploring new places together creates the most vivid memories. With a husband who travels for work and keeps crazy hours, our time with him is precious. When we head out on an adventure, my instincts pull me to spend as much time together all 4 of us as possible.
But guess what?
Out of all the most memorable things we’ve done as a family, it is the time that our kids get to spend with us ONE ON ONE that seems to stick out as the most special with them.
We try to make it a habit to carve out small pockets of time for us each to take one of the kids for a Mommy or Daddy “date” during our trip.
My daughter still talks about our special Mommy date we did during a huge family vacation–2 years later!! You can read all about what I chose to do with her over on Peanut Blossom.
Last summer, my husband decided to introduce fishing during a special getaway when we were going to be close to the water.
While he got our adventurous older daughter hooking worms and catching & releasing live fish, I took our more squeamish younger daughter for some relaxing time at the local coffee shop.
Both girls got an experience that worked for their personalities and some dedicated parent time. When we reunited as a group, there was even more to talk about over the next meal as we shared our mini adventures.
Another huge bonus: sometimes there is too much of a good thing and the siblings thrive with a short break from each other. When the inevitable bickering begins, perhaps it’s time to break the routine!
