In June, we celebrate Father’s Day, honoring the fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other male role models who have shaped our lives for the better. Strengthen these lifelong connections with your own children by sharing the best of yourself – and your time. Here are some tips for Father’s Day to help your family stay connected.

Spending 1:1 Time with Dad for Father’s Day

For dads of babies & preschoolers – Birth to 4 years

1.  Oh, Baby!

Get the most out of these precious, early days in your child’s life.
Bond with baby by participating in diaper changing, bath time games, and cuddling.

2.  Different Strokes

Moms and dads parent differently, and that’s okay. Embrace your personal parenting style early and create your own memories with special stories, piggyback rides, bath time rituals, or “daddy/darling” and “daddy/dude” games.

For dads of older kids – 5 years and up

1.  Catch Up

A game of catch before or after dinner can loosen limbs and strengthen relationships.

2.  Camp Out

While a real camping trip to the woods is wonderful, a tent pitched in your own backyard – or living room – can be just as invigorating. S’mores, sleeping bags, and ghost stories by flashlight complete the experience.

3.  Go Fish

A fishing trip doesn’t need to be complicated or expensive. The local hardware store can outfit you with a cane pole, fishing line, and some hooks. Search the Internet for local creeks, ponds, rivers, and streams good for fishing. Pack snacks and drinks and prepare for a memory-maker!
