We have the Wooden Airplane Set and Wooden Passenger Train Set. We keep them on a travel tray that we call the parking lot.  It is often brought outside too, for play. The wooden vehicles are played with often at my house, a home that happens to be filled with two little girls and a big boy.  Why does that matter, you might be thinking?

No matter how many times it’s happened, I’m actually surprised when we go over to a friend’s house for a play date that has a young boy. Often times the host apologizes when my girls arrive that they don’t have any girl toys. As I quickly glance around the room and see tons of vehicles, I give them the “momma teacher look” of “oh yes you do”.

As a parent it’s our role to be sure we remodel these important concepts too, for both genders. All of my kids love the little wooden people that are included with the vehicle sets. It leads to so much dramatic play together.
