It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The holiday season is upon us and kids of all ages can feel the excitement in the air. Having your children involved in making super fun Holiday Crafts can come in handy for so many reasons, here are just a few…

Busy Parents: Being busy and sometimes slightly overwhelmed during the holiday season as a parent is natural. Having some fun and easy crafts on hand to keep kids entertained is a lifesaver. I like to keep several mess-free crafts on hand for that, “Help Me Moment” when the tree lights are tangled, the cookies are burning or when the kids are just about to toss Grandma’s 50-year-old glass ornament into the air! You will be amazed how excited and engaged the kids will be when presented with a holiday hands-on activity.

Gift Giving: Having children make gifts for family and friends instead of buying them is often a well received, thoughtful gesture. Children take pride in their masterpieces and are super excited to give their loved ones presents from the heart. Our favorite gifts to give are homemade ornaments, and there are so many Melissa & Doug ornament kits to choose from. Kids can paint 3-dimensional ornaments, and an added bonus is that everything the need for their gift is included. The kit comes with the paint brushes, the sparkling metallic paint, and the colorful ribbons to hang completed projects on the tree.

There is also a “Stained Glass Made Easycomplete ornament kit where kids peel and press colorful stickers onto a lead glass looking frame. These decorative ornaments can be hung on the tree or can catch the sunlight hanging in the window. They come with clear suction cups and ribbon to easily hang them on a glass door or window as decorations.

Finally, there is even a Mess-Free Glitter kit for a real sparkle. Glitter has been given a bad name in the past because of how messy it can be, but have no fear! These Glitter ornaments are made completely mess-free and give you the sparkle you want! All of these choices are super easy, fun and make wonderful presents to be cherished year after year.

Hosting a Holiday: Providing children with these activities on the Big Day will help keep them entertained for hours. Busy children also give the adults around some time to sit back and relax. We like to decorate our kid’s table with various crafts laid out which keeps little ones actually sitting at their table longer. Having an ornament or a Mess-Free Glitter Gingerbread House making contest is another way to keep the fun going. Our family pairs up cousins and gives them each a holiday craft to complete. The parents are judges and naturally everyone is a winner! Kids love this competition year after year which makes for a great family tradition.

Party Favors: Everyone likes to provide their guests with a little something to take home from the party. Allowing children to participate in one of these holiday crafts during the party serves two purposes. Firstly, it is an activity to keep your guests entertained and then they can take their craft home to display in their homes or hang on their tree as a nice remembrance.
