Hunts are a big deal at our house and I love hiding things everywhere for my kids to move around and find. Sometimes though a whole house hunt just isn’t in the cards. That’s when a fun hunt and number matching game like this is perfect! My daughter is wild about Princess Castles and this hunt was just her size. We made this one St. Patrick’s day themed but you could make it year round by skipping the shamrocks and just having a piece of paper to match the coins to.

Here is how me made it. You’ll need a great Princess Castle, some foam shamrocks, a pen, a permanent marker, and some fake gold coins.

We started by tracing our gold coins on the foam shamrocks and writing a number on the shamrock.

Next we wrote the number in permanent marker on the coins.

I laid out the shamrocks ( I only did 5 because my daughter is only 2 ) and hid the coins. I used a few extra blocks to make hiding in the castle a little harder.

Find them! We did this 4 times in a row and were almost late for preschool because we didn’t want to stop playing. You will find that your child will naturally identify and label the numbers during the number match activity. If they need help label them out loud for them.

Once you find them all count them up and play again.
