The Scoop

Spice up playtime with these realistic baking spices! The sturdy metal caddy, which can hang or stand, holds four ground spice jars, a vanilla extract bottle, a set of measuring spoons, and a double-sided spice guide. Kids love the realistic shaking and pouring action and the lids that click and turn for "sprinkle," "pour," or "close" - and parents love that the lids don't open, providing endless mess-free fun! This set encourages creative, open-ended play and is a great way for kids three and older to learn about common baking spices and measurements.

Discover Countless Ways To Play
  • NICE SPICE: Help kids identify each spice, reading the name on the label, looking at the picture of the whole spice, and noting what color the ground spices are. Have them find the names of the spices on the spice guide.

  • THE NOSE KNOWS: These pretend spices have no aroma, but real spices are known for their distinctive flavors and smells. Show kids the matching spices in your kitchen and help them carefully smell each one. (Use caution so kids do not inhale any real spices.) Challenge kids to a blind "sniff test" to see if they can identify the spices by smell alone! Be sure to let kids know they should never taste or handle real spices without adult supervision because ingesting too much of certain spices can be dangerous.*

  • BAKE SHOP: Encourage kids to imagine owning a bakery. Have them create pretend recipes that include the spices in the set. Name the special concoctions to create a menu.
