Our family LOVES this time of year. Show us a Christmas project and we’re on it like tinsel on a tree. But when there’s only a few weeks to get all our festive fun in, I need to make sure we’re using our time wisely. That means easier dinners on busy weeknights, lots of online shopping to cut down on errands, and finding ways to keep the house neat and clean for the last-minute company dropping by unannounced.
My kids love craft projects but I don’t love the mess that usually comes with them. Finding projects that let them get their glitter fix but keeps my house clean at the same time?! SCORE.
My little ones had a blast experimenting with the Stained Glass Santa & Tree Ornaments and the Mess-Free Glitter Christmas Tree & Gingerbread House kits from Melissa & Doug over the weekend.
The ornaments were super easy for both girls to do independently, which bought me time to get caught up on other holiday projects of my own (Hello, Christmas cards, I’m looking at you!)
And the mess-free glitter projects are just way too cute. While both girls (ages 5 & 8) enjoyed both projects, the mess-free glitter was more popular with my 8 year old who loved being able to decorate her very own house the way SHE wanted to as opposed to sharing our real gingerbread house with her sister.
The finished projects turned out so pretty, they fit right in with the rest of our holiday decor.
In the middle of this crazy busy season, I love how these easy projects make it so manageable to squeeze in some art time with the kids while minimizing the extra work for me when my hands are already full.
